Systems Unlimited and MYEP partnered to invite legislators to the SUI building to showcase our services and to advocate for increased wages for our direct care staff on October 27. Representative Art Staed, Representative Elinor Levine and Senator Janice Weiner were greeted by a packed room with staff and people we serve from both agencies. They watched a short video about how funding for agencies like ours works. The best part of the day came when people we serve and guardians shared their stories on how services from our agencies has turned their lives around for the better.
At the end of the meeting, the legislators shared ways that we can get the word out to more policy makers about our important work. We truly appreciated the Representatives and Senator for taking their time to talk with us about these serious matters. We fully expect to have more meet and greets in the future.
