In January 2022, twenty-four people served by Systems Unlimited tested positive. This is an unprecedented number of people served catching COVID-19 during one month. Previously, the highest amount of people served catching COVID in a month was nine back in January 2021. The omicron variant is thankfully not as strong and so people have been able to recover in their homes.
To combat the recent spike, the Iowa City day program paused for two weeks to clean, organize and put some new protocols in place. Systems is also asking that meetings be limited to zoom when possible. However, this should not prevent people we serve from receiving visitors, going out with family/friends or doing their daily routines.
