The Board of Directors announced that Mona Kenyon accepted the CEO position effective March 1st. Kenyon agreed to be the Interim CEO beginning September 2022 after an extensive search last summer failed to yield a good leadership fit. “My interim CEO experience was extremely valuable with making this decision,” she stated. “The teamwork and commitment of the agency’s management team was nothing short of impressive as we worked to set a direction for the agency through the strategic planning process.”
Kenyon has worked for the agency since 2001, when she was hired as a Supported Living Supervisor. She moved into the HR Department in 2002 and became the HR Director in 2008. In 2018, Kenyon moved into an executive role and was named the Chief Human Resources Officer in 2020. When asked what she loved most about working at the agency Kenyon stated, “I love our passion for providing excellent services. From our Maintenance Department to our Direct Support Professionals, all of us truly want only the best for those we serve.”
Since COVID, it has been difficult to ensure that everyone has the same priorities, and recruiting staff continues to be a challenge. Kenyon had some thoughts on her beginning initiatives as a new CEO: “I want to continue the hard work of reinforcing a culture of accountability and inclusion. Our biggest challenge is staffing due to low Medicaid reimbursement rates. While we very much appreciate recent rate increases, we still have a long way to go to offer a competitive wage. I want to work with leaders at the state and federal level to advocate for higher reimbursement to ensure a living wage for our direct care staff.”
Kenyon had this to add, “I am incredibly proud of Systems Unlimited and the legacy that the agency has cultivated over the past 51 years. It is an absolute honor to lead such dedicated employees and leaders across the agency. It is our utmost priority to provide top notch services to more than 400 people who call Systems Unlimited their home.”
