Systems recently finished its COVID-19 vaccine clinic. A total of 90.4% of the people we serve received the vaccine. Of our staff, 48.4% received the vaccine during the clinic which is pretty close to industry standards. This is a major accomplishment and we appreciate all the staff that helped to make it possible.
The vaccine effectiveness is starting to really show in data across the nation. This is really highlighted by nursing homes statistics as they were among the first people to receive the vaccine. While less than 1 percent of the US population lives or works in a nursing home setting, they accounted for 35 percent of the country’s COVID-19 deaths. Since December, weekly COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes have fallen 66 percent and new cases are down 83 percent according to data from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Since our clinic, we have had some staff decide that they would like to get the vaccine. People we serve and staff are eligible to receive it according to the state’s roll out plan. However, due to national shortages, it still may be awhile before you are able to get an appointment.
